“Welcome to the Z Generation”. This is the message that Dolce & Gabbana seems to give with its latest FW 2021-22 collection. Stefano Dolce and Stefano Gabbana address this target of young people, the only one still far from the codes of luxury. We have suffered too much in social distancing, it’s time to get together and be together. This collection is therefore an invitation to the coexistence of styles, cultures, generations, origins. We need cohesion, as a new force that asserts itself in contrast to the disintegrating forces of those cultures (countries) that believe themselves to be better than others.
The Z Generation brings with it a new aesthetic and generates a new dialogue. It is based on a principle of cultural solidarity that allows everyone to live together and share, mixing origins, origins and diversity.
It is an invitation to stop prejudice and an invitation to welcome a new vision of the world.
Patchwork is a metaphor for this cultural feeling, which was already the stylistic choice of the brand in its early days. Ripped jeans are the obvious sign of breaking away from this boring conformism that still characterizes the 21st century. The contrasting colors are the symbol of diversity and the mixture of cultures, styles, traditions.
It is a very pop vision of fashion, which does not stop at appearances but which investigates the constantly changing social meanings.
