The United Nations has declared it will raise the case of the detention of Princess Latifa, the daughter of the ruler of Dubai, with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates. As the BBC reports, the princess has accused her father of holding her hostage in Dubai since she tried to flee the city in 2018 and in a series of secretly recorded videos she said she feared for her life.
The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has made it known that it would consult the United Arab Emirates about Princess Latifa. A spokesperson said an investigation could be launched once Princess Latifa’s videos are analyzed.
