The stunning Shanghai Tower, in the central business district of Lujiazui, with its 632 meters high divided into 121 floors, is now the tallest building in China and the second tallest mega tower in the world. A true “vertical city” that aims to set new standards also in design. The shapes of the rooms are different from each other, but for all of them the same sensation of floating in the sky, above the whole city. In this electrifying scenario, exiting the 120th floor elevator, the first thing you come across is an artistic mosaic, a 30 meter long mural, which interprets a painting by the famous and highly rated Chinese painter Zhang Daqin, ‘King of Dongdan on Horseback ‘.
The story of the prosperity of the ancient Silk Road and the hope of the times to make the country and the people strong. The work created by SICIS involved the mosaic masters of the company, who recreated, in gold and Murano glass tesserae, cut one by one and masterfully composed, the entire work in the Ravenna workshops and subsequently transported and placed in the its final destination.
Another spectacular part performed by SICIS is located on the 105th floor; the walls, from the elevators to the entire reception area, are decorated in gold and glass mosaic. The result is a golden casket, an environment that literally leaves you breathless. From here opens a floor in jet laser-cut blue marble with inlays in gold mosaic, a motif that runs through the main rooms.
Always on the same floor, in the Ballroom, the striking thing is the door, a design conceived and elaborated by the artists of the Italian house, in gold and platinum mosaic, which joins other walls of the hall, created on the same concept.
Finally, leaving out other details, it is worth highlighting the mosaic created for the wellness area of the presidential suite: an explosion of light, flowers that seem to join directly with the brightness of the sky, an environment in which one feels completely enveloped in a garden imaginary and fantastic.
It is truly galvanizing to see how SICIS, an Italian reality of exception, through productions of masterful quality and the combination of art, tradition and avant-garde industry, mosaic, mosaic art, innovative materials such as Vetrite, have become an integral and relief of this exceptional project.
